What you will do
This works best as a conversation starter. Different scores can reflect differences worth discussing, not proof the relationship will succeed or fail.
What the assessment measures
Values, communication, conflict, closeness–autonomy, practical expectations. The dimensions are intended to support reflection, not to turn a complex person or relationship into one label.
Compatibility is easier to navigate when important values and long-term priorities are understood, whether similar or explicitly negotiated.
Compatibility includes whether communication needs and habits can be understood and adapted to each other.
Differences matter less than whether a couple can disagree safely and repair effectively.
Partners can differ in preferred closeness, independence and social time; compatibility depends on workable negotiation.
Money, household roles, time, family and lifestyle expectations often require explicit discussion rather than assumed similarity.
Scoring and method
Each response contributes to one of the dimensions above. Reverse-keyed items are scored in the opposite direction where the configuration requires it. The result converts each dimension’s raw total into a 0–100 position within that questionnaire’s possible range.
That 0–100 number is not automatically a percentile. We only use population comparisons when an approved instrument, appropriate norms and a documented scoring method support them.
Limitations
Predicting relationship success, declaring a couple compatible/incompatible, or replacing difficult conversations.
Self-report results can change with context, mood, interpretation of items and the relationships or situations you have in mind. Use the profile as a structured starting point for reflection and conversation rather than a final judgment.
Current basis: Original DesperateMinds evidence-informed educational self-report; original items; not a diagnostic or validated clinical instrument.
Using your result
Use the result to identify topics that deserve a real conversation. Differences are not automatically failures; the important question is whether they can be understood, respected, and negotiated.
Frequently asked questions
A single percentage suggests a level of precision the assessment cannot support. Relationships can work with meaningful differences when people understand them, negotiate them, and treat each other well.
No. Some differences are manageable, some require active negotiation, and some may matter a great deal depending on the issue and the people involved.
Yes. Compatibility does not mean an absence of disagreement. How people communicate, repair, and handle recurring differences often matters as much as whether they agree initially.
You can each complete it separately and compare the areas you want to discuss. The results should support conversation, not be used as evidence that one partner is right.
No. It cannot predict relationship success, breakup, fidelity, or whether you should stay together.
