DesperateMinds operates desperateminds.com. This policy explains, in plain language, what information is handled when you read our content, take an assessment, buy a report, or contact us. You can use most educational articles without giving us your name or email. Some services require information to work.
1. Information we handle
- Website visits: Page addresses, approximate usage information, session identifiers, and technical or security logs. We use first-party site-event tracking to understand general traffic and diagnose errors. Google Analytics may collect device, browser, visit and interaction information under its policies when analytics is enabled in your browser. You can disable it using Privacy choices in the footer. Your choice applies to subsequent visits in the same browser.
- Assessments and reports: Answers, selected responses, results, scores, session identifiers, and PDF reports needed to provide the assessments or deliver reports. Certain tests use an external AI service to evaluate open-ended responses.
- Purchases and delivery: Your email address, the product purchased, transaction reference, payment status, report fulfillment records, and email delivery status. Paddle processes checkout as Merchant of Record. We do not receive your complete payment-card details.
- Support and optional notifications: Information you choose to submit when contacting us or signing up for a notification, including email and message contents.
- Care navigation: Limited referral preferences, broad location information you provide, and opaque referral or session IDs, when relevant to a service you use. We do not intentionally send raw assessment answers to referral partners.
2. Why we use it
We use information to operate assessments, calculate and email requested reports, verify paid access, respond to support requests, prevent misuse, secure the website, understand how public pages perform, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell personal information. We do not add a report-delivery email to a marketing list without a separate appropriate choice.
3. Google Analytics and privacy choices
Some public pages use Google Analytics (Measurement ID G-09264ZFF79) to measure visits and interactions. On pages using our current preference control, analytics is enabled by default unless you have previously turned it off. You can change this setting at any time using Privacy choices in the page footer. Selecting Turn off analytics saves your opt-out in this browser and stops ordinary Google Analytics measurement on pages where our preference script runs, beginning with the next page load. Events already sent cannot be recalled. Analytics preferences are browser-specific. Depending on your location, additional consent rights may apply; you can contact us about a privacy request.
Our own event system can record anonymous or pseudonymous session activity to measure page views, assessment steps and technical events independently of Google Analytics. These counts may differ from GA4 because the systems measure activity differently. Not every page uses the same tracking scripts, and we aim to limit sensitive assessment details sent to analytics providers.
We do not currently serve advertising through AdSense. If we introduce ads, we will update disclosures and implement any additional choices or consent mechanisms required for the regions we serve. Read about how Google uses data from partner sites.
4. Browser storage
Necessary browser storage (including localStorage and sessionStorage) may keep test progress, access status, session information and results on your device. Google Analytics may use cookies when analytics is enabled. A saved opt-out prevents ordinary GA4 measurement on pages where our preference script runs. Clearing browser storage can remove saved assessment progress or report-access information.
5. Services that process information
We use technical service providers to operate the website and provide services. They may include website and cloud hosts, Cloudflare for APIs and database storage, Paddle for payment processing, Resend for report email delivery, Google for analytics (when applicable), and a third-party AI evaluation provider for eligible open-ended answers. These providers process data under their respective terms and privacy practices.
We do not intentionally send payment-card details, personal contact details, or complete PDFs to the AI evaluation service. Educational assessments and automated results are not medical diagnoses or professional assessments.
6. How long information is kept
Storage varies by purpose. Browser data may remain until you clear it or it expires; report and assessment records may be stored in our Cloudflare database to fulfill purchases, support report resending and resolve technical issues. Customer purchase and email-delivery records may be retained for support, fraud prevention, accounting or legal obligations. Our providers may also keep records according to their policies. We do not promise that all records are deleted immediately after a report email is sent.
7. Security and privacy requests
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no website or email system is completely risk-free. Depending on your location, you may be able to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or another available privacy right. Some transaction data must be retained for legal reasons, and some records are controlled by the provider handling them.

8. Children and sensitive information
Our interactive assessments, purchases and paid reports are generally intended for adults aged 18 or older unless a page specifically states otherwise. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Please avoid including unnecessary identifying or medical information in open-ended responses or support messages.
9. International services and changes
Service providers may process data in other countries. We may update this policy as the website, service providers or applicable requirements change. The current version and update date will be published here.
