What the assessment measures

Understand the dimensions before you interpret the result.

Engagement, regulation, problem solving, recovery. The dimensions are intended to support reflection, not to turn a complex person or relationship into one label.

Constructive engagement

Engagement means staying involved enough to address the issue instead of disappearing or forcing immediate resolution.

Emotional regulation

Regulation means managing intensity well enough to avoid saying or doing things that make repair harder.

Problem solving

Problem solving focuses on workable needs, trade-offs and next steps instead of winning.

Recovery and repair

Recovery means reconnecting, checking impact and learning after conflict.

Scoring and method

How the free result is calculated

Each response contributes to one of the dimensions above. Reverse-keyed items are scored in the opposite direction where the configuration requires it. The result converts each dimension’s raw total into a 0–100 position within that questionnaire’s possible range.

That 0–100 number is not automatically a percentile. We only use population comparisons when an approved instrument, appropriate norms and a documented scoring method support them.

Limitations

What this result should not be used for

Labeling you as one fixed conflict “type,” assessing abuse, or deciding who is right in a specific dispute.

Self-report results can change with context, mood, interpretation of items and the relationships or situations you have in mind. Use the profile as a structured starting point for reflection and conversation rather than a final judgment.

Using your result

Frequently asked questions

Questions people ask before taking this assessment

Can I have different conflict styles with different people?

Yes. Conflict behavior often changes with the relationship, the stakes, past experiences, and how safe or heard you feel with the other person.

Is avoiding conflict always unhealthy?

No. Pausing can be useful when emotions are high or a conversation is unsafe. Avoidance becomes more costly when important issues are repeatedly left unresolved.

Does a high engagement score mean I communicate well?

Not necessarily. Engagement only describes willingness to enter the conflict. Good conflict also depends on regulation, listening, problem solving, and repair.

What does repair mean in a relationship conflict?

Repair is what helps people reconnect after tension, such as taking responsibility, clarifying a misunderstanding, apologizing, or returning to the issue more constructively.

Can conflict style change?

Yes. People can learn different ways to pause, speak directly, listen, solve problems, and repair after conflict. The result is a current pattern, not a fixed type.
